The trip, flagged off by Uganda’s Consul-General in Mombasa, aims to deepen regional tourism collaboration and promote East Africa as a borderless destination.

A delegation of 30 Kenyan tour operators, travel agents, hoteliers, and influencers has embarked on a seven-day familiarisation trip across Uganda, part of a growing effort to strengthen tourism cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.

The Uganda–Kenya Coast FAM Trip 2025 was officially flagged off on November 4, 2025, by Uganda’s Consul-General in Mombasa, Ambassador Paul Mukumbya.

The initiative follows the successful 4th Edition of the Uganda–Kenya Coastal Tourism Conference held in Malindi last month, which brought together industry leaders to promote cross-border partnerships.

According to Ambassador Mukumbya, the familiarization trip will allow participants to experience Uganda’s tourism diversity firsthand — from its iconic wildlife and adventure offerings to its rich culture and emerging agri-tourism sector.

“By engaging firsthand with Uganda’s top attractions, the visiting tour operators and influencers will gain valuable insights to market and package Uganda’s tourism products for regional and international travelers,” he said during the flag-off ceremony.

The tour began with a visit to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas, one of Uganda’s leading attractions for international visitors.

Over the course of a week, the group will traverse several key tourism circuits across the country, exploring destinations that highlight Uganda’s commitment to sustainable tourism, biodiversity conservation, and community-driven development.

Officials say the familiarization trip reflects Uganda’s growing appeal as a must-visit destination and underscores efforts to position East Africa as a unified tourism hub.

The initiative also supports the broader vision of promoting seamless regional travel under the East African Community framework, encouraging visitors to experience the region’s interconnected natural and cultural heritage.
